A debutant in 2010 Best progressed to the final at his first attempt, just pipping Laurence Shahlaei in the qualifying round. Best’s sixth place finish overall was just reward for a consistent performance in the final. Best is a former world and US national powerlifting champion and this is reflected in his squatting ability, which is always a good event for the American. Any disciplines which test the grip will also interest Nick, and a strong showing in the Whiskey Barrel Carry last year was an excellent illustration of this.
